Bill Gates and Sue Desmond-Hellmann visited the Mabogini Insecticide Trial Field Site,in Moshi Tanzania on 25 July 2014. This site that is part of the Pan-African Malaria Vector Research Consortium (PAMVERC) network, which is supported in part by the foundation and the International Vector Control Consortium (IVCC). The malaria field visit, highlighting activities in vector control, was the cornerstone of the foundation’s Tanzania trip. Part of the foundation’s malaria strategy is focused on vector control (tools to control mosquitos), and the team has set a goal of developing at least one new active ingredient for insecticide products by 2020.
